JW's just called at my door, simply handed me the JW.ORG tract and left! JW's now mere leaflet distributors.
by yadda yadda 2 ini'm off work today and its a monday morning.
a male and female jw just knocked on my door, i opened it, the guy just handed me their latest website promoting tract saying "hi, were just leaving these with people today", and then he made to leave.
i looked at the tract and then looked at him as he was turning to walk away and said to him "ok, thanks, but ummm you could've just left it in my letterbox.".

I plan to say:
" Giving someone a pamphlet that directs them to a website is like calling them on the phone to say you just sent them an email "

Ask them if they remember how giddy JW's got when the world trade centers went down on 9/11. That was 13 years ago.
Then ask them if back then they'd ever think they'd see this going on at the Kingdom Halls 13 years later. Especially when the end is supposedly even closer and peoples lives are at stake.

Both my wife and I agreed that it's not that we're against JW's having fun or loosening up the reigns on what happens in the Kingdom Hall. It's just that we were so restricted. At every turn we were given Biblical reasons for those restrictions and stern warnings about not wanting to be imitating the Churches of Christendom or the world in any way.
If they'd just once acknowledge in their literature or from the platform, that they realize they were too strict, apologize for it and admit they are loosining the reigns a bit, you could accept these changes. It's when they just suddenly do an about face without any explaination, it makes the restrictions we lived under and the sacrafices we made, look like a huge joke.

"You are good people"
by ateograciasadios inthis story goes back 2 years, when my girlfriend and i traveled to my homecountry in south america to spend the summer visiting my family and friends.
although i was still attending the meetings back then, i had already been inactive for a while.
the developments since that visit have been slow but dramatic, and my perception of the people inside the organization has changed greatly.

Interesting story. The guy in the restaurant probably thought you'd make a "good Jehovah's Witness" since you were so nice and all. He'll probably relate the experience at the next meeting and tell everyone how he planted a seed and how well the JW.org campaign is working out.
JW.Org is apparently their tool of choice these days....you don't have to even say anything much yourself....just point to your JW.Org button.
Your JW parents have "principals" to uphold....unlike your girlfriends Catholic parents who apparently can be kind without thought.

This was all part of the entertainment provided by the local congregations where International Conventions were held, to welcome the visiting delegates. This is all sanctioned by Bethel. They wanted the local congregations to entertain the visitors with "local flavor". This Congregation is in Texas I beleive, hence the cowboy hats and boots.
This is the one from Detroit.

This song was from a movie about a bunch teenagers who rebeled against their religious bible thumping parents who out of concern for their kids morals and religious beliefs wouldn't allow them to have a high school dance.
How ironic that a bunch of JW's are dancing to it and even moreso that they are doing it at the Kingdom Hall. Whooping it up...shouting and line dancing on the same platform where the Memorial is conducted.
One time we had a 50's party at a rented hall and the Circuit Overseer got wind of it and at the following Circuit Assembly said we shouldn't have been imitating the world and honoring their celebrities, music and fads by dressing like them. We should have dressed like Witnesses in the 1950's engaged in the preaching work. (I kid you not!)
We just rolled our eyes and walked off. Man....have things changed.

Did You Feel Guilty As A Witness Because Of Your Sexuality?
by minimus indid you feel guilty over your sexual feelings or actions, while you were a jw?
the watchtower always wasnts people to feel guilty.
i know of many witnesses that would pioneer or volunteer for something, as an act of penance for their sexual sins or desires, even if they were married!.

I know of MANY Witnesses that would pioneer or volunteer for something, as an act of penance for their sexual sins or desires, even if they were married!
It would have been the opposite for me. Whenever I felt extra sinful, my conscience wouldn't let me go from door to door, recommending my way of life to other people when I wasn't living it properly myself.
The funny thing is, looking back....other than the occasional temper tantrum or cuss word, I never did anything to be ashamed of....but I sure felt like I did. Then I find out that a bunch of people I know, were living double lives while knee deep in organizational activities.

If the wages of sin is death and if dying means one's sins are blotted out making one eligible for everlasting life, what's the difference if one dies of old age or of an ilness or at the hand of God at Armageddon ? By JW logic, death in any form is a punishment from God. If you die at Armageddon or beforehand, one way or another you've paid the wages of sin and should be resurrected.
